In Sept. 2018, the annual Eurographics Workshop on Visual Computing for Biology and Medicine (EG VCBM) will take place in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Granada, co-located with the 21st International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCAI).
EG VCBM addresses the state of the art in visual computing research with a strong focus on applications in biology and medicine. It provides an interdisciplinary forum for experts (researchers and practitioners) from visualization, visual analytics, computer graphics, image processing, computer vision, human computer interfaces as well as experts from biology and medicine, jointly working on next generation visual computing solutions for medicine, healthcare and the biotechnology sector. This year’s workshop (already the 8th VCBM since its foundation in 2008) will be held during September 20-21, 2018, in Granada, Spain.
It will be collocated with the MICCAI conference.
All papers (regular papers as well as short papers) will focus on a well-defined biological/medical problem, and demonstrate a significant innovation or improvement in visual computing.
Furthermore, the MICCAI and the VCBM steering committee consider this a great opportunity to establish networks between MICCAI and the Computer Graphics and Visualization communities. To promote this cross-fertilization, it was decided to give MICCAI papers that have not been selected for a plenary presentation the opportunity to present their work orally at VCBM. A MICCAI/VCBM oral talks selection committee was formed by the paper chairs of VCBM and IPC members of the MICCAI conference. The selection was made based on quality of the paper and suitability of topics relevant to VCBM. Four papers have been selected and will be presented on Thursday 20th of September (see programme)
